GREAT NEWS
Home schooled students can receive fine arts credit
  for
attendance at TSGSM summer music camp!

The Texas Southern Gospel School of Music, Inc. (TSGSM) offers the highest caliber of instruction in the field of Gospel music. Each student is placed in classes according to his or her age and music experience. The study of Gospel music instills confidence, creativity, competence, and love for God.  Students will find their attendance at TSGSM a rewarding experience.

Would you like to go to the TSGSM Summer Music Camp but don’t quite have the funds to go?  NOW, there is a way for you to do that!!  At this time we are anticipating an increase in our room and board costs; however, we are not sure exactly what the increase will be.  You can easily sell enough single tickets or sets of 5 tickets to cover the cost of your registration fee, your tuition, your room and meals for the two-week camp; AND any private lessons you might want to take. All of your ticket sales go to your cost of attending TSGSM.  WHAT A DEAL!!

Take the tickets to your church, let your parents take tickets to their work places and sell them for you.  IT’S EASIER THAN YOU THINK!!  All of the information for prices, time and place of the drawing, and the address of the music camp is given on the raffle ticket.  When you sell any of the tickets - whether you sell one or two or a set of five - ALWAYS, ALWAYS thank the person who bought the ticket/s.

GUIDELINES FOR SELLING AND RECORD KEEPING—VERY IMPORTANT

  1. The drawing for the quilt will be on Saturday morning, April 22, 2023 at the Texas State Singing Convention in Mt. Pleasant, TX at the Civic Center.
  2. When you sell a ticket/s, make sure you give the buyer a receipt (included with your tickets) with the number of tickets purchased and the amount of money the buyer gave you.  You must sign your name on the line at the bottom of the receipt ticket—actually signing the receipt can be done ahead of time which will save you some time.
  3. Make sure the buyer completes the information on the Raffle Ticket with their name and phone number. Remember to remind your buyers that THEY DO NOT HAVE TO BE PRESENT TO WIN.  The winner will be called.  The buyer MUST GIVE YOU THE RAFFLE TICKET SO THAT IT CAN BE PUT INTO THE DRAWING!!
  4. ALWAYS, ALWAYS keep good records. You have sheets that are numbered for you to write each person’s name who bought a ticket/s, the number of tickets they bought, and the amount of money the buyer paid you.  BEFORE you give the buyer their receipt, complete your record sheets—DON’T TRUST YOUR MEMORY!
  5. Do not be careless with your money and raffle tickets. Don’t make it easy or tempt someone to take your music school money.  There are people who will do this kind of thing—very sad.
  6. Your raffle tickets are numbered, and I keep a record of the ticket numbers.  You are responsible for either selling all of the raffle tickets OR returning the tickets that you do not sell.
  7. When you have sold your tickets and turned in your money - either to me or an adult who is responsible for collecting your money - and raffle tickets and/or mailing your completed tickets and your money to the address on the raffle ticket, you will be sent a receipt stating how much money is credited to YOU to cover your cost of attending the Texas Southern Gospel School of Music SUMMER CAMP.  DO NOT SEND CASH IN THE MAIL!

In addition to taking care of your cost to attend TSGSM next summer, why not think about helping someone else attend music camp.  If you have a scholarship for next year, that is awesome! However, you can sell raffle tickets for a specific person OR you can sell tickets for our Impact Scholarship fund that will help others be able to attend as well.

If you are interested in covering your cost for music camp this year, contact Pauline Thompson via text at 936-676-1416 or email at d.p.thompson1968@gmail.com for details! IT'S EASIER THAN YOU THINK, and YOU STILL HAVE TIME TO DO THIS!!

Texas Southern Gospel School of Music is so thankful for the support of Duane Allen of the Oak Ridge Boys who started his training at a Texas music school.

"The first song I ever sang was "Hand In Hand with Jesus"...It was at one of those singing schools that we had at our public school in the summer....Robert S. Arnold taught the school, and at the end of the school, he asked me to stand in front of the school and lead everyone in singing a song....that is the song I chose....from that day forward, I knew I wanted to be in the music business of singing songs.

Later on, I sang with The Southernairs Quartet in Paris, Texas....each summer, we had a singing school....We brought in Mr. and Mrs. Horace Kennedy and their daughter Ellen to teach in our singing school.....I have been friends with Ellen for over 54 years.....She has become one of the elite teachers and keyboard specialists in the music industry.

I encourage all interested people to check out the Texas Southern Gospel School of Music....One can learn so much in these singing schools, and I encourage you to attend....."

There is still time to register and come to the Texas Southern Gospel School of Music. I also strongly encourage you to partner with us financially – you may make the difference in someone’s life!
