The Texas Southern Gospel School of Music, Inc. (TSGSM) offers the highest caliber of instruction in the field of gospel music. Each student is placed in classes according to his or her age and music experience. The study of gospel music instills confidence, creativity, competence, and love for God. Students will find their attendance at TSGSM a rewarding experience.

Day classes will begin with a devotional at 8:15 a.m. and night classes will begin at 6:00 p.m.  Students are expected to attend all classes except when attending private lessons.

The Texas Southern Gospel School of Music is a Christian organization, and those participating in its activities are expected to conduct themselves accordingly.

Closing Program

The closing program will be in Mims Auditorium.  The public is invited to attend the concert, and admission is free.

Tuition and Fees

Registration  - $50

This non-refundable fee ($50) is paid by all who enroll as students in the TSGSM, including scholarship recipients. For non-scholarship students, $25 of the registration fee will be applied to the tuition cost IF INCLUDED WITH THEIR APPLICATION FORM (EITHER ONLINE OR SNAIL MAIL) POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN April 15, 2025. Students who register by May 15th, will pay $75; and Students who register by June 5th or at registration will pay $100. $25 of the registration fee applies to the student's tuition regardless of when the registration is paid.
 

Tuition

$250.00      Full Time Students - Two weeks of day and night classes
$250.00      Day Students - Two weeks of day classes only
$200.00      One Week Students - One week of day and night classes
$175.00      Night Students - Two weeks of night classes only
$  80.00       Private Lessons - Four 30-minute private lessons
$120.00      Group Private Lessons - Four 30-minute lessons for groups of 2 - 4 people
                       ($240.00 for one-hour lessons)


For more than one student from a single family, tuition for the second student is $225.00; tuition for the third student and all remaining family members will be $200.00 (immediate family members are father, mother, and minor children). This does not include private lessons.

Those who wish to attend the TSGSM but have limited funds, should work with their church or some other organization to obtain a sponsor.  Students may apply for an IMPACT Scholarship provided they have shown proof they have raised the money to at least a portion of their cost to attend the TSGSM by participating in a fundraising activity.  Scholarship recipients will be notified no later than May 1, 2025.  The TSGSM fundraiser this spring will be a raffle for an I-Pad. Details will be included with the brochures and on TSGSM's Facebook page.  Tickets may be requested from Pauline Thompson, Secretary-Treasurer.
 

Room and Board

$350.00          Room and Board - Two (2) Weeks
$175.00          Room and Board - One (1) Week

This fee covers lodging and meals for the ten days (Sunday and Friday evening meals are not included). Lodging is available the weekend between the two weeks of the school and on closing night at an additional cost of $15.00 per day per person. The cafeteria is closed from Friday after lunch until Monday morning. Students and/or faculty staying over the weekend in the dorms are responsible for their own meals. For minor students staying in the dorms over the weekend, there will be a responsible adult available to get meals.

Dorm facilities consist of two bedrooms on either side of a bedroom - Four students will share the bathroom.

Commuting Students

Commuting students may purchase meals for $7:00 per meal.

*Night classes will be available if needed.  Day students are not required to attend the
night classes from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. However, ALL students, EXCEPT the Level I
Song Writing Class (7- 9 year olds), are required to attend section rehearsals and group
singing from 6:00 - 8:30 each night.  Level I (7 - 9 year olds) will join group singing at

7:00 p.m.  All students are expected to be on time.
